I started by just writing down some thoughts and ideas on a big piece of paper — similarly to what we did in class.
Full disclosure: I already did this for another class — Project Development Studio for which I'm also coming up with my own idea and then executing it. Making this wasn't an assignment, this is just how I work. It makes sense to me that the initial process is the same — after all, my interest are the same too. However, at the time of writing this I can say I did come up with an idea for Project Development and I do intend to come up with a different one for Thesis. I hope I can take some time to research and explore more directions before having to commit to one idea though.
I have also made some kind of flow chart to break down my interests. It is by no means complete but it is helpful to me because it allows me to kind of focus on one thing at a time. Even if I know I'm probably not going to deal with one of the topics, this chart makes me still put in the time to break down why I wrote it in the first place and sometimes that leads to something I couldn't have thought of otherwise. It also kind of feels like taking the load of these thoughts off of my mind so I can make room for new thoughts.
Finally, I have started a list of inspirational materials. Some of it was stuff I already had that was scattered across multiple folders and locations, some of it is meant to represent things like books that I've read. More will definitely be added. It's a bit all over the place now, but will surely get tighter as I start closing in on an idea.
I went to the talk about the library resources and that made me excited to try and find some new materials. I will definitely do that once I start having an idea of what I want to do.
